since nobody asked, here are some memories of 2023:

Jan/Feb- bartended at a boutique hotel in Chattanooga & designed a craft cocktail that got put on the menu! Babysat (weekly) for an amazing family in Tennessee/great experience. wrote/recorded music for somebody’s passion project/got paid to do so. Sang my heart out on stages/lucky to have done what I love.

March/April- Celebrated my best friend getting married/honored to be the MOH. Saw Taylor Swift/experienced the magic of Era’s tour! Played a show at Ole Red Nashville Rooftop.

May: Celebrated my husband’s 20 year Navy retirement with an epic weekend including friends/family/videos/gifts/laughs/memorable moments that will live on forever. Packed up our apartment, officially said goodbye to TN life as we knew it, goodbye Navy, goodbye friends, onto the next chapter…

June- bought our house in FL, husband accepted/started new job, had a scare with Rose possibly crossing the rainbow bridge but she said “I’m not f***ing leaving” (insert Wolf Of Wallstreet scene IYKYK)

July- summer was hot/beach days were had. Adjusted to life changes & started to accept that life doesn’t always go as planned. Marked off annoying adult tasks like paperwork required/out of state issues, home ownership, retiring from the military, doctors appts, switching jobs, stress felt heavier than usual and each day felt like a new issue but things got done/wine was had/walls were painted/furniture was purchased/candles were lit! You are responsible for your own attitude.

August/September- celebrated cousins’ wedding in NY, visited lots of family/saw sisters new house, NYC day trip, I turned 34/chris turned 41. Life is short, make the most out of yourself. zipped up my guitar and put her away for a bit due to writers block/feeling out of touch musically. No gigs. started and applied to 100k odd jobs (pet sitting/more bartending/house cleaning/tried to book gigs in FL) struggled to find stability (me) after the move, amongst other things—felt like nothing clicked! Got told NO a lot, something I’m not used to/comfortable with. Keep growing.

October/November- chopped my hair off, lol, girls vs. life changes—visited family/went out in Orlando, celebrated our beautiful nephew Conor being born, had a great job offer fall through for myself & I now know it wasn’t meant to be. started working in medical/billing at a large internal medicine center. hosted our first Thanksgiving in our new house with family, fried a turkey. got a letter from HOA to trim our trees. “Still acclimating”

December- chilled for a quiet and wonderful Christmas at home, saw an owl in daylight, looked back on the year of gain and loss and am thankful that God always seems to have a plan and a purpose and the bumpy part is steadily trusting the process during those confusing moments. Don’t stop, keep going, be yourself, follow your dreams if you’ve got the gift of dreaming.

2023 was not good or bad, it just was. Feeling more like myself & SO excited for what the new year has in store. I have my rock, Christopher Reeves. we can slam the door on this year and be proud for all we accomplished/overcame together and unlock everything ahead of us! 🤜🏼🤛🏼🪨
