DROUGHT WORSENS ⚠️

Extreme drought conditions have spread across most of North Georgia and parts of Western North Carolina. Most areas are running about 5-7" below normal in the rainfall department since the beginning of the year. Much-needed rain is on the way this weekend, but we will return to a parched pattern through at least April 15th.

THURSDAY MORNING FORECAST (4/2):

Good morning! Another unseasonably warm day is in store with highs climbing into the low to mid 80s this afternoon. It will be breezy again with gusts up to 25 mph out of the south. A few spotty showers are possible this afternoon, especially in the higher elevations. Friday will be nearly identical with highs in the 80s and spotty afternoon storm chances.

Widespread rain is likely Saturday night into Sunday morning as a cold front sweeps across the Tennessee Valley. Rain showers will taper off between 5 and 7 Sunday morning, with clearing conditions later in the day. Temperatures will be much cooler behind the front, with highs in the 60s on Easter Sunday. This system will bring us much-needed rainfall with up to 1” possible.

Comfortable temperatures are expected to return early next week, with highs in the 60s and 70s. Overnight lows will be chilly, ranging from the upper 30s to the lower 40s. Low humidity and gusty winds will lead to another elevated fire risk Monday through Wednesday of next week.

Did anyone else capture a picture of last night's full 'pink' moon?

Radar Check 1:58 PM ET (4/1): Say it ain’t so! There are actually a few showers showing up on radar this afternoon. It’s not much, but some of you may be lucky enough to get under one of these brief downpours!

3 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR EASTER WEEKEND 🐣

1️⃣ A sweeping cold front will bring our next chance of widespread rain Saturday night into Sunday. The latest timing suggests most of the rain will occur overnight Saturday, tapering off Easter morning. This means most of your Easter will be dry.

2️⃣ I am not expecting a significant severe weather threat with this system, and rainfall amounts should range from 0.50 to 1 inch.

3️⃣ Temperatures will drop into the 60s Sunday afternoon and into the 40s Sunday night. The higher elevations could even dip into the 30s!

MONDAY MORNING FORECAST (3/30):

Happy Monday! We are starting the work week with mild temperatures in the 50s and 60s. High temperatures will climb into the 70s this afternoon, accompanied by partly to mostly cloudy skies. It will be breezy at times with southerly winds gusting up to 20 mph.

Highs return to the 80s on Tuesday as warmer air settles over the Tennessee Valley. A spotty shower or two is possible during the afternoon, but most will stay dry.

Wednesday through Friday will feature unseasonably warm temperatures in the low to mid 80s. Pop-up afternoon storm chances are possible each day, but widespread rain is unlikely. A weekend cold front will bring a better chance of showers and storms Saturday night into Easter morning. Rainfall of up to 1” will be possible over the next 7 days.
