I love thrifting. I 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 finding treasures. And *gasp* I have collections of things, too. Including vintage hats like the gorgeous 50s number in this photo. ⁣

Sometimes from new clients, I’ll hear a variation of, “I’m afraid you’re going to make me throw all of my things away.” Usually accompanied by some nervous laughter 😂⁣

Thankfully, I can almost guarantee you that most professional organizers won’t make you toss items that you really, truly treasure. After all, we’re people, too! ⁣

To treasure is human. ⁣
⁣
But the thing is — not all treasures are meant for you. If those items are tucked away in the attic instead of on display or out being enjoyed, are you really treasuring them at all? Do you occasionally think of them every few years and vow to put them out somewhere … only to forget them again? ⁣
⁣
It brings me SO much joy when I get to bring carloads of donations from clients to places like Northside Neighborhood House Thrift Stores where they go on to help others in our community. Does passing along a treasure make it any less valuable? Nope. I’d say passing along treasures for someone else to appreciate makes them even more valuable! ⁣
⁣
The moral of the story is — you’re allowed to have treasures, and I’ll never take them away. But I just might challenge how treasured they are if they’re collecting dust in your life … and your attic 😉

Sometimes the best way to push past an organizational — or mental — block is to explore options that make the task a bit more fun! ⁣

For me, I *do not* particularly enjoy filing actual paperwork (digital all the way 🙌🏻), so I splurged on these snarky file folders! When I look at them and feel a little joy, I want to file things away sooner rather than later.

For you this could be a new planner, cute storage bins or a snazzy entryway organizer — if it makes you happy to look at it, you’re less likely to avoid using it. ⁣

Annnnnd like I always say, the best organizational method is the one you’ll actually use! 💃🏻

💡Why do we, particularly as women, find our worth so deeply aligned with our weight? Ask yourself - how am I any less worthy when I’m a few pounds heavier? ⁣

💡I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in someone’s closet and 90% of what’s inside doesn’t fit them currently. And they punish themselves for gaining weight by only having a handful of things that they can actually currently wear! That’s mental warfare — 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫. ⁣

💡Your wardrobe should be serving the body you have right now. Would you tell anyone else in your life that they need to lose weight before they deserve to buy things that they feel great in? Of course not! Be kind to yourself. ⁣
