Staying warm! 🥰
In this video, I’m explaining what I’m doing in real time while training:
• High-value food reinforcement to strengthen engagement and position
• Low-level e-collar stimulation used as a tactile cue, not punishment
• Clear communication through operant conditioning — reinforcing desired behavior and reducing reliance on prompts over time
The e-collar is introduced after the behavior is already understood and is used to:
✔ Increase clarity
✔ Improve reliability under distraction
✔ Support calm, focused movement
This is a combination of positive reinforcement (food, praise, movement) and negative reinforcement (removing light pressure once Ruby makes the correct choice), applied thoughtfully and ethically.
We were able to take Ruby into a busy public environment because we spent an entire week beforehand building the foundation:
✓ Focus and engagement
✓ Basic obedience
✓ Confidence and emotional regulation
✓ Gradual exposure to novelty (systematic desensitization)
We don’t rush public outings — preparation and threshold awareness are what make sessions like this successful.
This type of progress can be achieved through private training sessions or our Board & Train program, depending on the level of support your dog needs.

We’re so grateful to Ruby’s amazing family for driving all the way from Atlanta to bring her to our Board & Train program! 💜
They’ve already done such a great job building her foundation — working with a local trainer to strengthen her obedience skills and exposure. But they knew Ruby needed more support to address the core issue: her fear-based reactivity.
That’s where we come in. Our Board & Train program focuses on helping dogs like Ruby work through the emotional process behind barking, lunging, and pulling — not just managing the behavior, but building true confidence and focus through structure, calm leadership, and trust.
