POPULATION GROWTH: A study shared by UTC shows that the Chattanooga metro area's population is growing at double the national rate.

Our area's population is expected to pass 600,000 residents this summer.

Before that, though, was the bustling Wheland Foundry and U.S. Pipe Company.
