Meet the Maker: The Natural Redhead Is Bringing Nontoxic Cleaning to Your Saturday Morning

If you’ve ever flipped over a bottle of conventional laundry detergent and put it back on the shelf because you couldn’t pronounce half the ingredients, Eli Derkach gets it. That exact frustration is what started The Natural Redhead.

After a health diagnosis in 2024 prompted her to take a closer look at what she was bringing into her home, the Chattanooga-based maker began formulating her own cleaning products from scratch, using washing soda, baking soda, Epsom salt, sea salt, and 100% essential oils. No synthetic fragrance. No mystery ingredients. Just a cleaner clean.
What started as a personal solution became a small business built around one straightforward belief: nontoxic shouldn’t mean expensive, complicated, or hard to find.

Her lineup includes a laundry powder that gets the job done without the chemical load, a multi-purpose powder that doubles as a carpet deodorizer, and a multi-purpose spray, all scented with essential oils and gentle enough for sensitive skin and baby clothes. She also puts together custom gift baskets!
