🌟Spotlight Saturday!🌟

This week, we're shining the spotlight on the one and only Mr. HP! 🎉

Many of you know him from behind the scenes, but did you know Mr. HP has been part of the GE Designs team since 2017? He started by helping with video production for Tipsy Tuesdays and Happy Fridays, and over the years his role has grown almost as much as his list of talents!

Today, he's our Head of Finance and Producing, but that's just the beginning. When he's not crunching numbers, producing shows, or keeping things running smoothly at GE Designs, you'll often find him long-arming quilts. (We're still not sure how he finds time to sleep.)

Before joining GE Designs, Mr. HP had quite the career adventure. He's been a dancer, drummer, producer, remixer, engineer, property manager, and even security for Prince as part of the legendary New Power Generation. Talk about a résumé that keeps you reading! 🎵💜

These days, he continues to share his musical talents as a member of the St Paul and The Mpls Funk AllStars and as the producer and drummer for the Mpls Men of Motown. So if you think he has rhythm in quilting, you're absolutely right!

In 2022, he married Gudrun, making him officially qualified to handle not only finances and production schedules, but also quilt-related conversations at all hours. 😄

And in the little spare time he has left (seriously, where does he find it?), Mr. HP focuses on staying healthy with yoga, swimming, sauna sessions, and cold plunges. Apparently balancing spreadsheets, drumsticks, and long-arm quilting wasn't challenging enough!

Whether he's behind the camera, behind a drum kit, behind a long-arm machine, or behind a spreadsheet, we're lucky to have him on our team.

Þar sýnir hún nýjustu verk sín, bækur og snið ásamt nýjar efnalínur hennar sem koma út á árinu, hannaðar með miklum innblæstri frá heimalandinu Íslandi. Salurinn opnar klukkan 16:45 þar sem hægt verður að spjalla og kynnast hópnum. Fyrirlesturinn er opinn öllum og er Íslenskt bútasaumsfólk sérstaklega hvatt til að mæta.

Price Increase! As we talked about on last week's show, Creative Grids is increasing the prices of rulers. This means the Stripology Ruler will also be affected. The price increase will take affect on June 10th. If you were thinking about getting a Stripology Ruler, now is the time to do so!

How do you label your quilts?

Do you include:

📅 The date it was finished?
📍 Where it was made?
❤️ A personalized note or special message?
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Who it was made for?

Some quilters keep it simple, while others turn their labels into a little piece of family history.

🌟 Spotlight Saturday: Meet Gisli! 🌟

This week's Spotlight Saturday shines on someone who has truly grown up with GE Designs—Gisli!

Gisli started working for GE at the ripe old age of 6 years old, packing patterns and earning 10 cents for every dozen he packed. Fast forward to today, and he serves as our Manufacturing Lead, helps produce our live shows, and tackles more than his fair share of random manual labor around the warehouse!

When it comes to quilting, Gisli proudly reports that he has completed 50% of a quilt. After someone else finished it, he was able to donate it to a homeless shelter - a contribution we're sure counts just as much in his book. 😊

Outside of work, Gisli enjoys snowboarding, working on cars, and spending time with his girlfriend Lexie and her daughter Ella.

One fun fact you may not know: Gisli was a Junior Olympic gymnast for 14 years and can still do a standing backflip! 🤸‍♂️
