In alignment with Department of Defense (DoD) Instruction 5400.17 and recent Executive Orders issued by the President, we have reviewed and adjusted our social media content to ensure compliance with DoD policies and priorities. This past summer 12 of our very own Cadets traveled to Ft. Knox, Kentucky and graduated from Advanced Camp at Cadet Summer Training. Advanced Camp is the culminating leadership exercise that every Cadet must complete in order to commission. Cadets undergo intense training including ruck marches, land navigation, rappel towers, and leading a platoon through complex tactical exercises. Congratulations to our graduates! This achievement is a testament to your hard work, perseverance, and dedication as a member of the Cavalier Battalion. We’re incredibly proud of all you’ve accomplished and we look forward to seeing where your journey takes you next. WAHOOWA!

Taking strides towards a safer tomorrow! In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we embarked on a 3-mile ruck through April's challenges. 🌟 Our journey led us to the iconic landmarks of Rotunda and Lambeth Fields, where we engaged in vital discussions about the Army’s SHARP program. Together, we explored scenarios, examined appropriate responses, and learned about the invaluable resources available to us as cadets and future Army leaders. This morning Cadets Mac Russ, Garrett Neff, Chase Barnett, Caleb Macey, and Alex Williams completed the Bataan Memorial Death March, a 26.2 mile ruck march with 35 lb rucks. The team completed a route on the C&O Canal Trail and in Washington DC, in constant rain and low temperatures, finishing at the World War 2 Memorial. While this event was challenging for our cadets, it was incomparable to the actual Bataan Death March, in which 75,000 American and Filipino POWs were forced to march 65 miles suffering constant abuse and killings by the Imperial Japanese Army. We hope to continue participating in the memorial march to keep the memory of these soldiers alive. “We’re the battling bastards of Bataan. No mama, no papa, no Uncle Sam. Robert Joseph “RJ” Hess, a brave aviation officer commissioned from the Cavalier Battalion. 🇺🇸 Hess made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in Pul-e-Alam, Afghanistan, on April 23, 2013. In honor of RJ’s love for animals, we’re donating to Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA. 🐾 RJ volunteered at animal shelters during his college years, showing kindness and compassion to our furry friends. 🐶 The Companion Animal Fund, a cause close to R.J.’s heart, will receive our proceeds. This past month, Task Force Blue Ridge MSIIIs and select MSIs and MSIIs had the opportunity to improve their land navigation skills at Camp Hydeaway.
