Station 16 B-shift being recognized for their STEMI care by Sentara Health . Great job 16!

Engine 161 and Medic 16 at Station 16 were honored today with a STEMI Recognition Award for their rapid assessment and early intervention during a recent chest pain call.

A STEMI is a severe heart attack caused by a complete blockage of blood flow to the heart. Early recognition in the field allows crews to activate critical care pathways sooner, helping patients receive definitive treatment faster and improving outcomes.

Great work, 16B, for delivering exceptional care when it matters most. đź’Ş

The Fitness Trainer Group would like to share a special workout created in honor of our friend, Mika. Each year, we take time to remember and celebrate his life, especially as we approach March 29th, the anniversary of his passing after losing his battle with mental health.

Mika had an incredible passion for fitness. Anyone who knew him remembers his love for lifting heavy, pushing limits, and sharing his knowledge—whether it was a workout, a smoothie recipe, or a meal idea. He was a larger‑than‑life presence, and it feels fitting to honor him through something he truly loved.  Substitutions and modifying for your skill level is completely acceptable.  If this isn't your first time, make sure you compare your previous stats.

We invite you to take part in this work out and have fun with it, just the way Mika would have wanted. If you didn’t have the chance to know him personally, there are many in the department who would be happy to share some great stories—he made quite an impact on all of us.

Mika, you are deeply missed. We’re grateful for the chance to honor you in a way that keeps your spirit and passion alive.
