Can't wait to head over to Violet Crown Charlottesville this afternoon to launch the second edition of Discover Charlottesville into the world. It was an honor to author this book for the fantastic folks at City Select/VA Welcome. A guide book by locals, this gem provides tips for things to do, events, day trips and behind-the-scenes history of our fair city. It will be featured in hotel rooms throughout the area and is available for order too!

Yes! Yet I, too, cannot recall learning this in any formal way.

How non-English speakers are taught this crazy English grammar rule you know but have never heard of "If you mess with that order in the slightest you'll sound like a maniac."

Our Local Commons Vol. III hits shelves May 6, with 16 new stories from the Charlottesville local food community, plus 8 tutorials and more than 30 recipes. Preorder now! (Link in comments.)

I am so proud to be the lead writer and editor of this book and to work with the incredibly talented Sarah Cramer Shields and Andrea Laakso Hubbell, whose luminous photography pulls readers into every page. Matt Thomas of Convoy devoted his remarkable design talents for this project, Egidijus Paurys of Fine Lines Editing provided project management support, Polina Chesnakova and Natalie Beam wrote excellent tutorials and Steven Blaski served as copy and recipe editor extraordinaire. And Scott Hudson at Worth Higgins & Associates, Inc. helped ensure this book looks as good on paper as it did in our mind's eye.

Working with this kind of talent is what entrepreneurism is all about, and I am grateful to have such an opportunity. I hope you will support this project — and Charlottesville's local food community — by buying your own copy and sharing it with friends. Cheers!
