This week, Region Ten was proud to host more than 25 participants for Crisis Intervention Team, CIT. CIT is a collaborative program that helps law enforcement, first responders, and community partners better recognize and respond to mental health crises with safety, compassion, and connection to services. We’re grateful for the continued partnership and commitment to building a stronger, healthier community for everyone!

Congratulations to Brooke Whorley, Peer Recovery Specialist with Region Ten, on being awarded the Community Resilience Leader Award by the Greater Charlottesville Trauma Informed Community Network! Brooke was recognized for her compassion, authenticity, and unwavering commitment to walking alongside others in their healing journeys through peer support, advocacy, and lived experience. Region Ten Staff Profile: Zarina Burdge Where are you from? My family is originally from Malaysia, but I was born in the Philippines. We moved to Northern Virginia when I was almost 4 years old, and I became a U.S. citizen when I was 18.

Today we were honored (and a bit teary!) to celebrate Lori Wood as she retires from Region Ten after 35 years of dedicated service. Lori has been a steady, compassionate presence at Region Ten, touching countless lives across our community.
