ENGINE COMPANY OPERATIONS DAY
This Saturday, 7 volunteers drilled engine company operations on for 9 hours. Rookie firefighters practiced stretch techniques of the 300’ line and racks in several apartment buildings and rowhomes. This 2 minute video shows two firemen performing a stretch with racks and a leader line to a distant, third floor apartment. The 2.5” was hoisted and tied off at the stairs.

CAR TOUCHES DOWN IN STATION 8’s DUE
At 1958, volunteers on , , and were dispatched to a trap at Seminole Trail and Myers Drive. established command for the working extrication. Company 8 extricated the sole occupant in 10 minutes and they were transported to the hospital by ACFR EMS providers.

ENGINE 83 GOES 3RD DUE FOR HOUSE FIRE IN HAMMOCKS GAP
At 1807 hours, right after shift change, was dispatched to Box 0680 in Company 6’s area for reports of a house on fire. E161 arrived first with fire showing on the D and C sides through all floors. E83 arrived third and stretched two lines, while 83 Chauf established a dump site. After initial knockdown, command requested E83 enter first to determine the integrity of the floor and stairs, and after deeming both sound, E83 began knocking down fire and opening up on the first and second floors until command pulled units out. The members of Station 8 operated for approximately 4 hours before returning to Berkmar Drive.

Yesterday morning, was dispatched for a Vehicle Vs Tractor Trailer, with entrapment. E83 arrived with a crew of 4 as the first engine and found an under ride situation with significant intrusion. E83 stabilized the vehicle and the trailer, took the doors, B post and lifted the dash to extricate the patient. Units transported the single occupant to UVA. Total extrication time of 19 minutes.

This past Sunday morning 2/8/26, at 08:45, B crew on E83 cleared a med call to go first due for the attic fire this morning. E83 with 3, made an aggressive interior attack on a well established attic fire. CFD E7 completed primary searches and began to open up. The roof began to collapse and crews were pulled out by command. Crews re-entered and continued to chase fire in the attic space. Units operated for multiple hours overhauling before returning in service.
