THIS is the kind of pie I want to celebrate on Pie Day. Here’s my favorite slices in honor of this important day.
Can we please make Crownies a thing bc they deserve to be.
This croissant brownie hybrid might be my new favorite way to eat croissants (and I eat a lot of croissants).
Ingredients
- 1 baked croissant
- 2.5 tbs butter
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 3 tbs cocoa powder
- 1 tbs flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
Steps
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Microwave butter and sugar together in 30 second increments until butter is melted.
3. Stir with a whisk and add in egg yolk and vanilla.
4. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, and salt.
5. Cut croissant in half and spread brownie mixture evenly over croissant, saving a bit to top the croissant as well.
6. Bake for around 7 minutes until brownie batter is respectfully underbaked.

A weekend well spent eating my way through Charlottesville
📍Ten: sushi platter and sweet & spicy tempura shrimp for no meat Fridays
📍Mount Ida: chicken salad wrap, pimento cheese dip and wine flight
📍C & O: the BEST table bread, scallops and sausage, braised duck w ricotta gnocchi, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate bread pudding (and I rolled out)
📍Simeon Market: croissants (duh), ham and Brie Sando and literally the best crepe in the state of Virginia (bacon and Swiss and caramelized onion)
📍Zocalo: guac, Brussels and pancetta, chili dusted scallops w plantains and a vanilla carrot sauce
