The Festival of Cultures, held this past Saturday, June 6, was a wonderful day for all! It was a great opportunity for our staff, AmeriCorps members, interns, and volunteers to connect with the community, increase language access, and share about IRC programming.

This family-friendly event offered free sports physicals for students and health education resources from many community partners. The event also featured a bounce house, face painting, food, and music and dance celebrating different cultures. Thank you to the , , , , and the Thomas Jefferson Adult Career Education for making this event a success!

High school seniors participated in our Senior Saturday Celebration at the Center for Community Partnerships in downtown Charlottesville. Participants had the chance to reflect on their activities, accomplishments, and support systems throughout their high school careers and were encouraged to think about their post-graduation plans. The event included a scavenger hunt on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall and ended with lunch and a raffle where students won prizes. Wishing a well-earned CONGRATULATIONS to all of our senior students! 🎓💛

On April 22, the IRC in Charlottesville was privileged to be recognized once again by the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run for our commitment to helping our community become a home for all people.

The IRC was represented at this year’s Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run ceremony by Cecilia Lapp Stoltzfus, IRC Virginia’s Food & Agriculture Program Manager. Cecilia was joined by her colleague and clients who participate in the New Roots agricultural program in Charlottesville.

The Peace Run “is a global torch relay that offers everyone in the world a chance to express their longing for peace…since its founding in 1987, the Run has visited almost every country on earth – over 150 nations and territories – and touched the lives of millions of people.”

The event was a great success with over 200 participants engaging with the work of our work and other non-profits in our area. Thank you to Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge for being such a wonderful host!
