The U.S. Navy Band 'Commodores' will kick off a big band evening at Fridays After Five this week (June 5) as part of Charlottesville's inaugural JazzFest! Charlottesville Jazz Society
The Commodores have chosen to perform in Charlottesville as part of their larger Northeast tour to help mark the 250th Birthday of the United States of America!
Music kicks off at 5pm with the Commodores, followed by R4ND4ZZO BIG B4ND (led by Andrew Randazzo from Butcher Brown). The concert also features saxophonist Charles Owens and many more of Richmond’s finest jazz artists.

In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May, VeryAsian VA will be hosting its 5th annual event celebration of Asian American creativity and community. The goal is to better highlight the breadth of ways Asian Americans exist and thrive in Charlottesville/Central VA, and to celebrate the many different facets of Asian American cultural expression and heritage.
This year's event will feature a variety of musical and cultural performances, including AfroAsia, Prabir Trio, Downbeat Project [Reunion!], Sylvia Chong, and a special lion dance from Laughing Dragon Kung Fu. Snacks and drinks will be available from various vendors, including local Asian-owned businesses Little Manila, Chimm, and Tealicious. 🥢🍜
