Happy Juneteenth to all celebrating! Our Black neighbors have worked tirelessly towards parity over the years, and few fields have been as historically fraught with discrimination as housing. We're proud to be providing repairs to all members of our community, no matter their background ❤️

The return of summer means the return of our yearly volunteer projects with Tiger Fuel Company! Their team helped us bring a client's home back to life after structural repairs left a number of notable patches in the walls. Now, it looks as good, if not better, than when she moved in 😊 Thanks Tiger Team!

The summer season is a prime opportunity to get together, which is why AHIP is hosting a Community Cookout on July 19th at Forest Hills Park! We invite everyone to join us partaking in free food & drinks, and to bring your kids to cool off at our splash pad 😊 No attendance requirements, but if you're interested please consider RSVPing at our Facebook event! https://www.facebook.com/share/1JSKvdJ1j2/

As temperatures skyrocket this season, make sure you're staying cool when you're out and about! The Herman Key Jr. Center, JMRL's Central Library, and the Tonsler Center are all serving as city cooling stations throughout Cville, so keep them on your radar when out and about this summer ☀️

AHIP would like to acknowledge the hard work of Kathryn Kieffer, Development Director, and Nikisha Woody, Client Success Advocate, who have spent the past fourteen months participating in the VCDC Mission Elevation program!

The Mission Elevation Program is designed for nonprofit organizations engaged in housing and community development activities across Virginia to help improve the communities they serve. The program provides participants with the tools, support, and guidance to address their organization's most pressing challenges. Participants collaborate with fellow nonprofit leaders from other organizations and executive coaches to enhance mission impact and organizational performance.

Congratulations to Kathryn and Kisha and the other participants in Mission Elevation Cohort 7 on graduating from the program on June 9, 2026. These graduates join nearly 90 program alumni from 37 organizations including past AHIP participants, Cory Demchak, Executive Director, and Jen Jacobs, former Executive Director. We are excited to continue improving our processes, procedures, and client outcomes so homeowners can remain safely in their homes; older adults can age in place with dignity; and affordable homeownership is preserved in a rapidly changing housing market.

A previous before-and-after featured a client's deck that had received partial work at time of photography. Now, the remainder of that deck has been modernized, along with a brand new back door for better exterior protection 😊
