Breaking News! The Charlottesville area has just been named Wine Region of the Year by Wine Enthusiast!
We were the only North America nominee for this award and were up against tough competition, beating out destinations in France, Italy, Australia and South Africa.
This incredible recognition highlights the growth of our wine region, the Monticello American Viticultural Area (AVA), in recent years. In forty years, our region has grown from just a handful of wineries to more than forty along the Monticello Wine Trail. Albemarle County is now the top producer of grapes by acreage for all of Virginia!
We are thrilled to see our wineries, winemakers, and wine professionals highlighted through this accomplishment, and we look forward to welcoming new visitors to experience our destination. Cheers! 🍷 🍾
