Did you know that I enjoy photographing pets as much as humans?
…speaking of which, allow me to introduce my newest grand-snake: Oberon, the albino Florida king snake!

whoa. y’all — there I was, just taking a break from work to make some photos of my gorgeous nasturtiums in this sunset-drenched orange that is just giving me life lately

…and suddenly I was only inches away from a true hunter devouring his catch….

I’ve gotta be honest …it was a little brutal. This mantis — is it praying mantis or PREYING mantis??? 😬 dang … fat bumblebee clutched in one of his (or her?) claw/hands, the bee’s belly cracked open like a shellfish, and using the other claw to scoop out its innards.

Jeez. Nature-drama. Not what I was expecting to see when I popped outside to enjoy the flowers for a few minutes!

Doesn’t it always feel like we rocket straight from winter into summer here in Virginia, with hardly any days of spring?

I know that’s not actually true, but as a lover of cool gentle weather, I want as many spring days as possible!

I made this photo over a month ago, but today, as the temp gets close to 85 degrees 🥵— I’m holding thoughts of cool raindrops on soft petals for as long as possible!

I spent some time Sunday with this lovely family. While I was photographing them, AJ filled my ears with stories of Iraq, and of becoming an American citizen, and how excited he is to vote for the first time. Let's all do the right thing, for all of our children.
