For the past ten years, the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra(WSO) has entered The American Prize competition. http://www.theamericanprize.org

The American Prize is a set of annual nonprofit national competitions in the performing arts which recognizes and rewards commercial and noncommercial recorded performances of classical music in the United States based on submitted applications and recordings.

We have been a finalist every year, and have placed third two years. Last year we were given a new award for consistently being a finalist every year.

We just found out that this year we were awarded FIRST PLACE!!!

We were in competition with non-profit community orchestras across the country.

The recording that we submitted that gave us our first place award was Mahler’s 1st Symphony.

This is my 12th season playing with the WSO, and I have never worked with a more dedicated, and hard working group of musicians. And kudos to our Music Director Peter Wilson. He is an incredible musician and conductor who constantly encourages us, and pushes us to improve ourselves as individuals and musicians!

So excited to be offering in-person performances this fall! PLEASE NOTE that the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra is asking its audience members to wear masks while inside the performance venue, regardless of vaccination status. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Hello everyone — at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 25th, members of the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra will perform chamber works over live-stream: Schubert, Dvorak, and Beethoven.

We are please to announce that the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra(WSO) is once again a semi-finalist in the American Prize competition for the 2019 - 2020 season!

The WSO has always received semi-finalist recognition, and in two of the last 5 years has placed 2nd & 3rd.
