FTC Team 7953 - Vertigo

This past weekend Team 7953 Vertigo qualified for Super Regionals in Scranton, PA by being apart of the Winning Alliance at the Virginia State Competition. Thank you to all the teams that were there and thank you to FIRST Chesapeake.

Vertigo: The Movie A charming summary of two years as an FTC team. It's been a great couple of years.

The FIRST World Championship has come to a close. With 6 wins and 3 losses, Vertigo was not chosen to participate in an alliance in the elimination bracket. Unfortunately, this means this is the end of our FTC season this year.

However, this was a triumph! We did far better than we ever expected to at the World Championship, and additionally won a $7,500 grant in the FedEx Innovation Challenge! Tonight is not a night of mourning, but celebration.

We're extremely grateful for all of the support we have received from our mentors, our school, and all of our fans. We could not have made it this far without the dedication of many, many people who have busy lives of their own and who chose to help us in our challenges.

10 of our 12 members are seniors, and will be graduating from Vertigo; only 2 current members will carry the torch on to next year's FTC season. They'll be back in the fall - until then, we'll be very eagerly awaiting the 2015-16 season!

We just played our last qualification match at the FTC World Championship! Just today, we won 4 matches and lost only 1. Thus ends our first 3 days of qualification-level match play. We've so far won 6 of our 9 matches, and at the time of this post, we were ranked 13 in the Edison Division (out of 64 other teams).

Day 2 of the FIRST World Championship is complete! With one win and one loss today, Vertigo is 2 for 4 overall. We still have 5 matches yet to go - stay tuned.

Day 1 of the FTC World Championship is complete! We got through the first two matches of our schedule with one win and one loss. We still have several matches to go, which will happen tomorrow and Friday.

Shoutout to our sister AHS teams, 7955 NYX and 9064 Nerds of the North, and the WAHS teams, 6124 Geek Gods, 4970 Loose Screws, and 9202 Her Majesty's Engineers! We're gonna try and represent Albemarle County well!

This is the big week! Tomorrow we set out on our day-long road trip to St. Louis for the World Championship! We'd like to thank everyone who helped us get there, and everyone who has supported us along the way.
