Hello Everyone!!!!!
Yesterday i received $400 from two contributors and the new total amount is $1180.45. This is really encouraging. The way people are responding to this contribution is really good. My only suggestion is that those who are able and willing to contribute, please try and do so. The more money we collect, the better we will be able to help our people back home.
If it is alright with those who have contributed so far, i would like to list all the names for accountability and transparency purpose. This way everyone will be able to account for the total amount contributed.
I thank you all and pray that we all have a wonderful weekend. My fellow brothers and sisters, remember the more you have, the most is expected from you. WAH-SALLAM

Hello Everyone!!!!!!
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the nice summer weather. Well this is an update on what is going on as far as our organization is concern. As of date, we as a group have contributed $630.45. This is a good effort but we have a long way to go as far as what we need. We have potential contributors by the end of the month and hopefully during next month. I have called and spoke to few group members and i hope if you cannot contribute $100, you will try and contribute any amount you could. I just want to let this group know that the following members: Malang Manjang, Ousman Minteh, Foday L. Camara and Haggie Jabbie are doing a wonderful job in helping this group achieve it's objectives. Please if you have contact with anyone of these members, do say thank you to them.
I am happy and proud of this group. I have no doubt we will come together as one family and help our people get the basic needs of life and our younger generation have a world class education. I once again thank you all for your commitment and hard work in helping improve the living condition of our people back home.

Running water problem in Fatoto
We have had running water system in Fatoto for the past three decades. During this period, it was only the Health Center and the staff residency area that had running water. Eighteen years ago (18 years), the running water at the Health Center was extended to the entire village with an installation of Fifty Four (54) solar panels. A management committee was also set up to control and coordinate the water system.
Unfortunately, the running water system stopped working when the solar panels were stolen few years later. The breakdown of the water system was very hard on the community especially women. I have seen women travel to a nearby village Gadafaroo, which is about a kilometer or three quarters of a mile away in search of portable water. Those living further than that proximity, entirely depend on open well water for all domestic issues including drinking and cooking. This has contributed many health issues and deplorable living conditions for so many Fatotorians.

Fortunately, three years ago, a company called Swan Gambian helped revive the water system at a tune of Thirty Eight Thousand Dalasis (D38, 000.00). This amount was too expensive for the village to come up with at the time. The village was given a grace period of three months to come up with the money. A watch man was employed to avoid the solar panels being stolen again. A fifty bututes (D0.50) charge was levied on every 20 liters of water fetched. Collections were going well and an amount of D22, 000.00 was collected before the gracing period ends again.
Unfortunately, the system could not withstand the heavy thunder storms during the last rainy season because the technician did a silly mistake. The cylinder crashed due to lack of earthen the whole system. I was told that the cylinder needed to restore the running water system will cost almost Forty Thousand (D40000). I calculated this amount in Dollars and it is about $1340.

I therefore importune the generous assistance of every member of this group to enable our community access clean running and portable water once again. We all know how important clean water is to any society and the merits cannot be over emphasized. So I am pleading to every member of this group once again to lend a hand with the little you can so we can help revive the running water system once again. I believe all if not many of us know what scale of preferences is in economics. That being the case, we have to make a scale of preferences since there are many things to do at the moment. In my opinion, given the importance of water to any given life, it should be our number one priority on the list of things we have to do this year. Given the number of group members that are committed, willing and able to contribute, individually we might contribute a little more.

My suggestion at the moment is that given the small scale of contributors, we contribute $200 each to tackle the water problem. While we do that, I will try and figure out how much each will contribute to help the school. Those in the Europe and particularly in England and Spain, please send your contributions to Malang Manjang. Malang Manjang will be our European representative from now on and all matters concerning this group should be forwarded to him. I will be collecting all contributions here in America and I hope people will contribute generously. And if it will make anyone more comfortable, do post the amount that you contributed on the group’s main page. I think group members should do this for accountability and transparency.

Our people back home deserve access to clean water. So please once again I am pleading to every member of this group to contribute any amount that you can if you cannot contribute the $200. I thank you all for your commitment and dedication to help our people back home.

Wow is all i can say to your contribution brother Malang Manjang. This is what we need from everyone in this group. We need brothers and sisters like you to contribute their own ideas as to how we can develope this group. Regards to having memberships to this group, that is in the pipeline and will eventually be esthablish. And no we do not have problems in registering the group here in Virginia (USA). I am alreay on that process and INSALLAH by the begining of the 2012 year, we will be a registered non-profit organization in the US.
I agree with you that, when people put their money into an organization, they feel ownership to that organization. The only reason why we have not started collecting money is because i am still working on setting up an account with Paypal and then put the link on this page. We used my account for previous contributions and since we are begining to grow to a credible organization, we want everything to be as transparent as possible.
Regards to rules and principles or the constitution of this organization, three years ago, Ousman Gargigo and myself set up some rules that this organization will have to follow. I will post these rules for everyone to see and please if anyone have suggestions, he or she is welcome to share it with the group. Once again i thank you all for your willingness to support our community back home.

Eid Mubarak to every member of this amazing group. I pray that all our good deeds be accepted by Al-Mighty Allah. Just as a remainder, I am planning to visit Gambia very soon and will work hand in hand with some of our group members to figure out what projects we will embark on this academis year. Two weeks ago i spoke to Ousman Minteh and Foday L. Camara (Alhagie Bombay) about an issue that really need our attentinon. There is an arabic school at Fatoto that was partly run by Ousman Minteh and the parents of the students. But due to the financial dificulties, the school is about to be closed. To my understanding, there is one teacher with a monthly salary of D1600.
My sugestion is that, we need to know a lot about this school before we can help. We need to know who is running the school, how were they generating money in the past, how many students are at this school, how much money does each child contribute and many more. There need to be a good structure in place for this school to receive our funding. These are my suggestions and ideas are welcome from every member of this group. Please share your suggestions so we can come up with an agreeable one that will benefit the school and every child that goes there.
I will give it a week or two after i post this update and then base on the contributions we have from members of the group, we will decide what to do. I once again thank you all for dedications and contributions towards helping our people back home.
