Hana once dreamed of a riverside path, a tentative touch from behind, and a stranger’s long embrace. His not-letting-go was burned in memory, and this dream has become a lasting part of who she is.

FOR HANA

and then arms held
what i was never able
to hold —

the breath moving
through lungs as one,
the rise and fall
of ribcages

and muscles
enmeshed
taking the shape
of each other —

and for the first time,
i chose to stay,
chose to be still
and not step away,

this first belonging
something that i could
finally
receive.
