Please join the UVA community in remembering Devin, Lavel, and D’Sean on the day, one year ago, when their lives were tragically cut short. At 12:55 p.m., the Chapel bells will play a verse of “Amazing Grace” followed by three tolls of the bells, honoring each life lost. Many in our community will gather near the Chapel and on the Lawn. For those who cannot gather on Grounds, the moment of remembrance will be streamed at www.virginia.edu/live.
On this anniversary, know student support is available through UVA Student Health & Wellness and TimelyCare. Emotional support is available to UVA faculty, staff, and their family members through FEAP.

Bingtian Guo, a Ph.D. student of electrical engineering, has earned a UVA School of Engineering and Applied Science endowed graduate fellowship to support his research focused on avalanche photodiodes fabricated from two antimony-based quaternary materials. Devices fabricated with these materials have achieved the same multiplication noise as silicon and can operate in the telecommunications spectral window, with potential to extend optical receivers’ reach into a much wider spectrum. https://at.virginia.edu/Om2oGf
