WE ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE IT
The driver is going to be here at 9pm and we are still 24 horses shy of stopping this truck.
They will take them to Canadian slaughter, and they will kill them. The live feed is completely stagnant and not moving.
WE NEED YOU! $1 challenge everyone who reads this. $100 challenge everyone who reads this!
We have GOT to move and we have got to get these horses safe NOW! It can’t wait!
There are other rescues literally cheering we lost 27 horses and hoping we don’t make it today.
I can’t imagine that level of evil…
But all I can do is hope that good hearted people will come together and save them.

This is Pepper.
An Amish man is trying to buy him right now as a buggy horse.
He is around 20 years old, skinny and not that sound.
He will literally not make it as a buggy horse.
His other option is slaughter…
So I bought him with my own money and am giving him to CCR.
Any chance anyone wants to cover his medical / quarantine costs? I’ve donated over my budget this fundraiser but I’d really like to see him going down the trails with someone.
He has the funniest personality. He’s so goofy and silly. He’s been pestering me for treats and searching my pockets for ten minutes.
I couldn’t let him go off to be tortured and driven until he collapsed. I know some Amish homes are good, but the look of the decrepit dying buggy horse this guy dropped off tells me it’s no place for Pepper.
I know it’s a brief respite from the fundraiser.
But I couldn’t not tell yall about him…

THIS IS A HORSE SLAUGHTER MANIFEST
This is the blood soaked ticket that those 27 horses were unlucky enough to find their tag numbers on.
This is all that’s left. They’re dead by now.
40 horses face the same fate RIGHT NOW!
We can STILL save THEM!
We still have a chance.
We still can change their fates.
Not another name on the list.
Not another soul crossing the border to be brutally murdered.
Here and now we make our stand.

This was my wife saying goodbye to and comforting 27 terrified horses shipping to slaughter.
They are gone forever now. Nothing can ever bring them back.
40 horses face the SAME fate today.
We CAN save them.
So I’m challenging you to an impossible task. One that I know is too much, but it’s what we need.
A $100 challenge. I’ll start us off. You match. And then you challenge someone else.
We just need to find 10,000 people.
Just 10,000. And we will raise a million dollars to protect the horses here and the ones to come.
It’s possible.
There are millions of people out there.
All we need to do is reach them.

I keep trying to write about last night and even I can’t articulate the deep feelings of loss and hope and redemption felt by everyone.
Despite our best efforts, a load of horses shipped. 27 lost to the Canadian slaughter plant in Quebec.
This photo is my wife Ally saying goodbye to them. She told every single one that they deserved better, that they were loved, and that they mattered.
Then they pulled away.
And she collapsed into their gravel driveway and cried so hard she threw up.
I swear I have never felt like a bigger failure than when I watch my wife realize I couldn’t save those horses for her.
And while I know she doesn’t blame me, I do.
I have got to be more persuasive— better at my job, reach more people, and save more horses.
Because watching her grief and despair kills me.
Our donors held an impossible line.
You were all so courageous.
Whittling the number down to prevent a second load from leaving.
You stood in the gap and said you won’t take these horses too.
So that’s why I absolutely dread coming here and saying, “there’s still more.”
More bloodwork back today. There’s way more horses than we ever thought inside of her. 45? 49? Left.
This isn’t a fake pen.
This is real.
If we don’t raise the funds, they DO ship.
We don’t always win.
Sometimes we lose and that means 27 innocent lives are lost.
Please help us make sure not one more is added to that tally.
