Meet the studio series continues with our studio owner and lead teacher, Shelly Ruggiano!

Are you interested in advancing your teaching and taking your love of Pilates to the next level? Quantum Movement Studio, a Classical Pilates studio located in Charlottesville, is recruiting for our next Real Pilates Teacher Training Program (RPTT) that will kick off in March 2026. Upon completion of RPTT, you'll be a comprehensively trained, 3rd generation Classical Pilates teacher.

What is Classical Pilates?
We follow the original method developed by Joseph Pilates. Our training method comes to us from the Romana Kryzanowska lineage and has been formalized by Real Pilates founder Alycea Ungaro. You will learn Joseph Pilates original method on his original apparatus from other RPTT graduates.

What is RPTT?
RPTT is designed to create the best teachers, technicians, and coaches in the Pilates community. You will be educated in the Classical Method, introduced to Pilates as a system, trained to assess and adjust to your clients' needs, and prepared to change lives and promote health and wellness through 600 hours of comprehensive training. Four seminar weekends, led by expert Real Pilates teacher trainers, coupled with the expertise and guidance of your local host studio mentor, and the camaraderie of your fellow teacher trainees will help you become an accomplished teacher and part of the Real community.

How do I get started?

I'm not sure I've done Classical Pilates, can I still participate?
Absolutely! Contact QMS now for your assessment and to enroll in the preparatory package to get you familiarized with the Classical orders and equipment. This prep package is the perfect way to get you ready for RPTT and start you off on the strongest foot possible.

Meet THE REFORMER! This spring-resistance apparatus includes a moveable carriage, leather straps with wooden handles, a moveable foot bar, and a solid frame. Using a variety of resistance levels, the reformer helps you build stability, strength, stretch, and stamina. As part of the system of Classical Pilates, the reformer can assist you in learning new exercises and challenge you in exercises you’ve learned in other places in the studio. What makes the reformer Classical Reformer unique? Classical Reformers include 4 equal springs and a foot bar with a binary setting (up / down).
