Measles outbreaks are occurring in parts of the United States and in other countries.

Virginia has one active measles outbreak in Buckingham County. VDH is working to identify additional cases, connect people to testing and care, and is offering vaccine to those who need it.

βœ…VDH encourages people who are not vaccinated to avoid large gatherings or crowded events.
βœ…VDH encourages everyone to talk to a healthcare provider about the measles vaccine recommendations for their family.
βœ… People who live in Buckingham County may have a different recommendation for vaccines because of the outbreak.
βœ… People who are traveling this summer should make sure they have had two doses of the MMR vaccine for full protection.
