Some much-needed equipment didn’t make its way to the space this past week, so we’ll have to hold off for now — but stay tuned!

We’ll be hanging out at the space from 10 - 4 over the next couple of days, and hope to get rid of things as soon as we can! We will update the list as things are sold.

Last call, folks! With just a few days left of service, we have a couple of notes for everyone coming in to snag a last bite:

-Menu items *WILL* be selling out throughout the week. Dave’s Roast Pork and the Troutlandish have already sold out for the last time, so if you have a favorite sandwich you want to have one more time, GET OVER HERE!

-Friday and Saturday have the likely potential of limited service, as we will be serving until we sell out.

We look forward to giving y’all the Chickadee experience for just a couple more days🥹

There will always be a chicken sandwich available on Sundays, and even ordering it with honey, butter, hot sauce, and pickles shouldn’t be too hard to come by, either.

However, finding one on fresh-baked brioche by Alma might be a little more difficult to come by here pretty soon, so come get a bite while you still can🙏

“Badass Women of Charlottesville is a new book about two dozen women who have fought to make Charlottesville a stronger community.

Michelle Moshier, of The Local and Mockingbird, is fighting cancer for the third time - with her prior two bouts coinciding with the birth of her three children - first the daughter she delivered in March 2021 and then the twin boys her wife delivered in July 2023. The community is rallying to her support, including an amazing dinner and auction April 15 at The Local, with an all-star lineup of chefs. Moshier is also featured in the book Badass Women of Charlottesville and today’s Five Finds on Friday.

Hi, Dave here. After reading some of the responses and reactions to yesterday’s news, I feel like we need to clarify that Chickadee, as you know it, will be closing.

All of us at Chickadee have loved to see every one of you that have come through our doors. It has been heartwarming, fun, rewarding, and a lot of work. Our biggest asset has always been our people, be that our kind, dedicated employees or the friends we’ve made over a hoagie and a shot of tequila. We will miss being able to serve you, miss working with you, miss being a part of this awesome restaurant community. We cannot thank you enough for allowing us to be a place that brought folks together. To everyone who ran food or ran the fryer; to everyone who sat down to have their sandwich or walked through and grabbed a coffee; to the people who helped design our cute breakfast nook to those who told their friends to check us out: We love you, we’ll miss you, and thank you.

After three grinding years of slugging it out in the lunch & brunch service life, The Family Stone has decided it’s best we take things in a different direction.

For the past year, we have been building out the space next to us for a market concept, and after much thought and deliberation, we think the best move for us will be to try and combine both concepts into the same existing space - Chickadee Market! So this will be more of a transformation than a door-closing 🤗

The capacity in which food will be involved is still TBD, but definitely scaled back. Think bodega vibes meets Cha-Chas(iykyk)!

The final day of service for Chickadee proper will be Saturday, April 12th, so we hope to see all of you before the transformation!
