What a great mixer we had last night at Ethos Wine & Tea Thanks to everyone who came out. Again, we forgot a group photo but snapped a couple of these. Acclaimed TV and shorts filmmaker HIKARI’s (Beef, 37 Seconds) second feature film follows a struggling American actor (Brendan Fraser) living in Tokyo who lands an unexpected gig as the “token white guy” at a Japanese rental family agency, where he is hired to play stand-in roles in strangers’ lives. Despite the oddity of the work, he begins to forge genuine connections with his clients.

VeryAsianVA folx in Charlottesville: Check out these two events taking place at UVA this Thursday and Friday!
The East Asia Center and Department of Media Studies will be hosting journalist Ada Tseng, co-author of Breaking Into New Hollywood, for two lectures this week, a speaker series lecture "Two Screens, Two Stories: Diasporic Identities in Hollywood vs. China" on Thursday, at 5:00 p.m. in New Cabell Hall 368, and "How to Make it in Hollywood," co-sponsored by the Institute of the Humanities & Global Cultures, on Friday, at 10:30 a.m. in Warner Hall 104. We hope you will join us for one or both of the talks!
