After Virginia Redistricting Map Is Tossed, Democrats Search Desperately for a Response (Gift Article) A conversation involving House members from Virginia and the top House Democrat reflected the fury and desperation that has gripped the party after Friday’s ruling in the state.

There is hope and the May 8th Virginia Supreme Court ruling proves that accountability is coming to Virginia Democrats!

Virginia gets to keep its existing congressional district as the Virginia Supreme Court has ruled the gerrymandering amendment “null and void”. A massive win for the rule of law today!

"In this case, the Commonwealth submitted a proposed constitutional amendment to Virginia voters in an unprecedented manner that violated the intervening-election requirement in Article XII, Section 1 of the Constitution of Virginia. This violation irreparably undermines the integrity of the resulting referendum vote and renders it null and void. For this reason, the congressional district maps issued by this Court in 2021 pursuant to Article II, Section 6-A of the Constitution of Virginia remain the governing maps for the upcoming 2026 congressional elections.”

As I mentioned in my campaign advertisement both Governor Abigail Spanberger and former President Barack Obama did not want the voters to know that the proposed gerrymandering amendment violated the constitutional amendment process.

The red states of the south are finishing the redistricting war that Speaker Don Scott, Senator L. Louise Lucas, and Governor Abigail Spanberger began in Virginia.

The amusing part of this is that the Virginia Supreme Court may deem the gerrymandering amendment as “null and void” for failing to follow the constitutional amendment process. Ultimately Democrats won’t pick up any seats in Virginia, whereas republicans will likely pick up 14 seats in the remaining southern states.
