A little hello from flower farmer vacation in Europe! We are jet-lagged and giddy like two kids!
These farmers are doing something we’ve never done before…spending some time in Europe for a little getaway to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! The last time we got away alone together on a trip was before our oldest was born…and the only other time I’ve been to Europe was for wedding photography 15 years ago and we brought along our nursing baby at the time!
First stop- Copenhagen, Denmark for a little over 24 hrs! The sun would set at 11 and it was light outside as early as 3:30am! The colorful homes and waterways in Nyhavn were absolutely lovely and we just wandered on foot around the city …9 miles in one day!
We ate cardamom buns, drank rich coffee, and climbed the round tower…saw the most amazing roses in King’s Gardens….we enjoyed a free live concert and loved how the main mode of transportation here is cycling everywhere…and we never even saw a single bike locked up!
What a fun time! These are just a few highlights… 😊✨

I’ll never forget starting labor at midnight and at 6am Zach was born on our bed in Charlottesville…the girls who were 4 and 6 at the time woke up the next morning to a baby brother! Happy 16th birthday, Zach! You are a gift to us all!!

25 years today…better than ever because the hard times make the good times more precious… we have fought for us and found our way through … made and raised 3 amazing kids, starting out when we were still kids ourselves walking down the aisle so innocently, then this year we walked our oldest baby girl down the aisle together in the same dress I wore 25 years ago…wouldn’t trade anything …happy anniversary 💕

Thank you to our brides who choose to work with flower farms for their weddings- what makes Foothills Flower Farm unique is we only use what we grow and what is blooming the week of your wedding! We choose to not import flowers or use wholesale flowers that are out of season.
Our clients and brides get excited about the surprise of colors and are not focused on any one color scheme…we will lean towards pastels or brights for your special day (your choice!) and use what we cut fresh that week!
Late May is full of peonies, larkspur, love in a mist, snapdragons, and foxglove…and a few ranunculus 🌸

Lots of wedding prep today for two weddings this weekend!! We needed to beat the heat so I was outside at 6am designing before bringing everything into AC…tomorrow begins days of rain…so all the design work needs to be done today!
So exciting and a ton of work behind the scenes of which I’m not the best at capturing! (But sometimes you’ll find behind the scenes in our stories!)
