Ahora que las temperaturas comienzan a bajar, es importante saber el tipo de daño que puede provocar el clima más frío.

Daños por viento
Los vientos fuertes pueden causar daños al aflojar las tejas o incluso volarlas por completo. Esto puede ser bastante común en tejados antiguos que ya necesitan atención. Es mejor reemplazar las tejas dañadas o faltantes lo antes posible para evitar problemas futuros, como agua atrapada o fugas.

Daños por agua
La lluvia helada puede ser un problema si se acumula hielo en las canaletas e impide el drenaje adecuado del agua del techo. With temperatures beginning to drop, it is important to know the type of damage that can be brought by colder weather.

Wind Damage
Strong winds are able to cause damage by loosening up the shingles or even blowing them away entirely. This can be quite common for older roofs that are already in need of attention. It is best to replace any damaged or missing shingles as soon as possible to avoid future problems such as trapped water or leaks.

Water Damage
Freezing rain can be a problem if ice were to build up in your gutters and prevent proper water drainage from your roof. Extensive water damage could also occur if your area experiences heavy rain and the accumulated water gets under your shingles and into your home. Even just a few inches of water can cause extensive interior home damage by causing mold to grow inside and bringing potential health problems in the future.

Snow Damage
This can be especially problematic for homeowners with roofs that are either flat or designed in a way that makes it difficult for snow to fall down the sides. The heat coming from the inside of the building will melt the ice and the water could enter through cracks if it is more than your gutters can handle.
For older roofs, an accumulation of snow could even cause structural damage or a complete cave-in.
