Dedicated to integrating spinal cord injury residents into an independent community
after their injury. There are 17,000 new spinal cord injury cases a year.

Because that number is so "small" a lot of the issues patients face as wheelchair users are overlooked. People don't realized that number is accumulative because the spinal cord doesn't always heal, meaning people don't regain, sensation, bowel/bladder control, or movement. A lot of the "opinions" patients are given when initially injured stick with them throughout their trials and errors of life.

I used to think I needed to wait around for wheelchair maintenance teams to come swap my tires, until I realized I could do it myself. Now? I roll into independence one tire at a time 💪🏼

And with Kenda Tires, changing them has never been easier.

Here’s how to do it—save this for next time you get a flat or need a fresh set:
    1. Check the rim tape on your wheel to make sure it’s intact and there’s nothing sharp that could slice your tube.
    2. Add a little bit of air to your new tube, then place the tube inside your tire.
    3. Look for the directional arrow on the tire. This tells you which way the tread should face. You want that traction working with you, not against you.
    4. Push one side of the tire onto the wheel gently using your fingers.
    5. Once one side is fully on, work the other side on carefully—this part is important. Don’t pinch the tube between the rim and tire or you’ll pop it and have to start over.
    6. If that last bit gets tight (it will), grab your tire spoon and pop it over the edge.
    7. Pump it to the recommended PSI, pop it back on your chair, and you’re good to roll. 👊🏽

You don’t have to wait.
You don’t have to settle.
You don’t have to rely on someone else to do what you can learn to do.

An awesome video from of their custom adaptive crib! Todd, his dad, and a friend built this awesome tool 9 years ago.

Yes it’s high, they say everyone comments on that but it’s the best option for Todd to have independence as a parent! Their first 2 kids never attempted to jump out so they are hoping it just runs in their blood that they aren’t jumpers. 🤪

What did you do for your adaptive crib?
