opened without a big social media push. Instead, they simpy turned on the open sign and invited their neighbors in Plaza Shamrock. Dean and Amber have both made careers serving others, and this time it's all theirs.
They describe it as a very nostalgiac space for the millenial generation. You've been there before, but not this exact place. It's not pretentious, but everything is done with intention, from the design to the seasonally-inspired menu. It's the fresh, local ingredients that make a difference without breaking the wallet.
Freshlist is honored to work with another independently-owned, neighborhood spot to bring more local produce to the Plaza Shamrock neighborhood. Have you stopped in at Post Script yet?
Right now, our farmers are in the testing phase of some newly developed seeds from seeing how they perform in the heat of the Carolinas. They'll give their feedback on how it grew and if it was beneficial in their operation. For example, these pink tomatoes at came in a couple weeks before the rest of their tomatoes, meaning it could extend their tomato season at the farm if it was implemented in future crop planning.
You can play a role in this process too! Once these trials are harvested and brought to Freshlist, our customers can give their opinions on the flavor profile of the product. Stay tuned for opportunities to try items like these tomatoes 🍅

Let's talk tomatoes 🍅
You may have noticed tomato prices climbing lately, especially if you’re a chef buying by the case. A perfect storm has hit the market, leaving many with sticker shock.
There are several factors at play: major crop losses in Florida and Mexico (some growers reporting losses as high as 80%) , rising input costs like fuel and fertilizer, and tariffs affecting imports. Locally we've also been in a major drought right as these plants are starting to fruit.
The result: high demand and low supply, which means elevated tomato prices are likely to stick around through the summer.
The silver lining for local farmers is that fresh, high-quality local tomatoes become more competitive. For many buyers, better flavor and freshness are worth the switch when they're already paying such high prices.
Have you noticed the higher prices and will it change your tomato purchasing habits?
