Another fun cover for . I think this is my third year working on the BoB Awards issue and it’s always a whirlwind to bring it all together. Thanks as always to for her vision and endless work on the ex*****on. And , you killed it!! Not only does she create some stunning jewelry but she was so fun to work with and up for anything we threw at her. Check out the issue for all the good stuff in and around Charlotte.

Can you believe this used to be an old barn? This is a stunning renovation tucked into a wildflower-filled hillside. Owner Shelby Tramel said it would have been a lot easier to start from scratch but in the end it was worth the struggle. Sitting on that front deck sipping coffee would make for an excellent morning. It’s on Airbnb so if you’re looking to get in some mountain time, look it up.

And don’t forget to stop by Shelby’s other project, Old Orchard Creek General store in Lansing to grab a beer or glass of wine!

I photographed artist for the July/August issue of . Capturing artists and creators is always a favorite of mine. Kenny works in a 94-year-old former textile mill in Concord, NC. His colorful paintings use silk as their basis and his process is mesmerizing with a beautiful end result.

We spent the morning shooting in wonderful light streaming in from his tall studio windows capturing a mix of portraits and process.
