What Your Pregnancy Can Reveal About Your Future Heart Health A history of preeclampsia doesn’t mean heart disease is inevitable, but experts say it’s valuable information that can help guide prevention, postpartum follow-up and lifelong heart care.

Atrium Health is bringing medical care directly to people experiencing homelessness in Charlotte through its Care Everywhere Street Medicine Project. Through recurring outreach to encampments and outdoor sites, care teams meet patients where they are—reducing barriers like transportation, access and trust.

Clinicians deliver immediate, hands-on care in the field, including medications, testing and wound care, while connecting patients to housing and support services.

“By removing common barriers and being a reliable presence, we are able to connect with people who might otherwise remain disconnected from the health care system,” said Dr. Cortlyn Brown, medical director of the Atrium Health Care Everywhere Street Medicine Project and an associate professor of emergency medicine at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.
