Last week, Barton Malow | Edifice and our project partner, Terracon, welcomed a group of 40 educators from the Tri-County STEMersion Institute to learn about our work on Roper St. Francis Healthcare's future Roper Hospital campus. We offered hands-on activities and guided site tours to connect classroom instruction with real-world application. By showcasing the various career paths involved in building complex healthcare facilities, we hope to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals and construction leaders in our community.

Pineville Fire Department celebrated the opening of their new headquarters on Tuesday amongst Town of Pineville leaders, local fire departments, and the Pineville firefighters and their families. In lieu of a traditional ribbon cutting, Chief Mike Gerin, Mayor Rev. Ameila Stinson-Wesley, and the building committee uncoupled a hose in front of one of the new bays.

The new 28,000 SF headquarters features a 5.5 apparatus bay, offices, kitchen, dayroom, sleep room, gym, storage, and training tower. Several areas in the building honor Pineville’s long history with historic ladders, awards, and equipment.

Designed to provide the fastest response time, the building features a total of seven miles of low voltage cable to accommodate communication and security systems. 33,000 concrete blocks support the structure of the building, weighing the same as six blue whales. Most importantly, the project finished with zero injuries.
