Just a few tips to bring clarity to the process of starting or revisiting the process that can be very overwhelming:
1. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the home care industry, including the services offered, target clientele, and regulatory requirements. This knowledge will help you make informed decisions throughout the process.
2. Without a unique and strong brand identity, it will be extremely difficult to separate yourself from your competitors. A strong brand will also allow you to market to the private pay audience with confidence. Let your work match your image.
3. Create a detailed business plan outlining your goals, target market, marketing strategies, financial projections, and operational procedures. A well-thought-out plan will act as a roadmap for your business and help you secure funding if needed.
4. Establish policies and procedures to effectively and efficiently run your home care business. This includes scheduling, client intake and assessment, care planning, caregiver supervision, and quality assurance measures.
5. Connect with local hospitals, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to establish partnerships and referral networks. Building these relationships will be crucial in gaining clients and establishing credibility in the industry.

As a home care business owner or management within your organization, it is important to know your policies and procedures front and back. This is an example:
1. Although the employee has violated the policy, you notice there was no back lash back from supervisor through text. This is important because you don't want to be inconsiderate to an emergency. There is no clear response as to what the emergency was. Most times, in the event of an emergency, people can't think clearly.
The proper response is asking the employee to call the office when they are able to before end of business day, especially if they are scheduled for the week. When the employee returns, you print out the policy and give them a verbal warning, written warning or whatever the disciplinary action is according to policy.
As for last minute replacement, that is always the employer's job to figure out.

RISE N SHINE!!! Sunday you should have taken an hour to map out your week.
The goal is to reach out to community partners weekly. Wednesday’s is follow-up days. Allow 24-48 hrs. for them to respond back (email etiquette) if they don’t, add a note… follow-up. Depending on contact, I usually wait a week before I follow-up.
