The parents wanted to surprise the girls with this beautiful balloon arch and lunch on their last day in the program. This was one of the best cohorts thus far!!
We at Girl Magic Incorporated are truly grateful for being trusted with shaping the minds and character our future.
Now in our 5th year, we've grown from 10 to 23 participants, and we're proud to see nothing but continued growth and impact.

After each lesson, we make sure we carve out at least 30 minutes of GIRL TALK time where the girls anonymously write down a topic or scenario on a card and drop it into the box based on challenging life events. Then, we go around and draw from the box for discussion and define steps towards resolution. We allow the girls to first give their perspective as if they were helping a friend. I must say, their advice is pretty good. The mentors are there to fill in the gaps and provide additional direction and support. Parents...the box stays full. Make sure your child has you and at least 1 other trusted adult they can confide in. What is not said verbally will be said nonverbally.

Our last facilitator of our 8-week spring cohort was Gilda Mack. We could've had Ms. Gilda come and share her tenured journey in the world of IT being one of a few black female leaders navigatung the space, but we chose to take a different path. Understanding just how challenging that journey can be, she instead poured into our girls by sharing something just as powerful: how Forming Positive Habits now can shape who they become later.
By learning these lessons early i.e. time management, presentation in dress, behavior, communication, etc., our girls are gaining tools to grow into their best selves; avoiding many of the challenges adults face today because they simply didn't have the guidance sooner. Thank you Ms. Gilda for sewing seeds!!

ECPI University nursing students, Dakota, Anissa, and Sierra took us through a day in a life of an RN student by taking the girls on a tour of their simulation classroom. After the initial shock of seeing the mannequins, there was pure excitement and curiosity. The girls were also educated on the skills and behaviors they can focus on today to prepare them for the rigorous coursework and study habits needed to be successful.

We are so blessed to share a space at ECPI University where they teach Nursing, Engineering, and IT. This is IT student Mr. Terrell who is showing the girls the internal mechanics of a computer as it may one day spark their interest in a career in the lucrative field of Information Technology.

Week 7 was all about exposing the girls to different career paths to consider as they think about what they want to be when they grow up so they can begin to develop the skills now in preparation. Sharon Suhh, Partner at Fisher & Phillips Law Firm stopped by to share her journey as an attorney. 2 teens and a college age mentor have their ears perked with interest.

In week 6, Katia Hernandez and Melanie Ruiz from Anuvia Prevention and Recovery Center facilitated their 4th and final session of the spring on Effective Communication. This session along with Goal Setting, Decision-Making, and Managing Emotions, gave the girls a taste of the core skill development they will need to navigate the world they will enter after high school. Round 2 in the Fall.....
