Ignacio Laguillo, architect based in Seville (Spain), leads Laguillo Arquitectura Atelier, combining his professional career with teaching and research in academic and professional forums.
His work has been widely recognised through national and international awards, including the
FAD National Architecture Award (Barcelona), two finalist nominations for the Spanish National Architecture Prize, and two nominations for the Mies van der Rohe European Award.
In their work, they seek to be strongly rooted in the vernacular. With a deep respect for the uniqueness of each place and for its natural and built heritage, they approach every project as a multidisciplinary research connecting tradition with a contemporary perspective enriched by other artistic disciplines of their interest.
Since 2022, Ignacio has been regularly visiting Korea to supervise the project and construction of the National Museum of Archaeology of Chungju, following its winning proposal together with studio on.a and Jongjin Lee, submitted in the international ideas competition launched by the National Museum of Korea in 2021.

이야기 주제는 입니다. 말 그대로 제가 요즘 제일 고민하거 있는 지점들을 함께 이야기 나누고자합니다. 건축작업물을 누구에게 보여주는거에 서투르기도 하고 별 작업들도 없어서, 그냥 제가 해 온, 하고있는, 그리고 하고 싶은 다양한 범건축 이야기를 나누고자 합니다.

이야기 주제: 건축 30년, 개소 15년, 50살에 하는 건축 고민
​
2026년 ’건축가 초청강의 (시즌7)‘ 〈Architects in Korea〉 1라운드는 ”Power Architect 4050“으로 준비하였습니다. 한국 현대 건축의 든든한 버팀목이 되어주고 있는 파워풀한 40대, 50대 건축가들이 번갈아 출연합니다. 올해도 여러분의 많은 관심과 응원 기대합니다.^^

공간지 700호 특집을 기념하여 “700개월동안 더 작아지고, 더 흩어지고, 더 다양해진 한국건축” 글을 제개하였습니다. 그 동안 데이터화 되어있지 않았던 공간지 게재 건축물들을 데이터화하여, 규모, 용도, 공법, 위치 등의 경향성을 분석하였습니다.
글의 말미에도 썼지만, 지난 700개월을 뒤돌아보며 알게된 경향성을 파악해 앞으로 우리 건축 (and 건축 교육)이 어디로 향해가는지 함께 얘기를 나눌 수 있는 계기가 되었으면 합니다.

A Temporary Exhibition of Temporal Public Spaces brings together projects by a dozen or so emerging architects from Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, and Hong Kong—a region sometimes called the Milk Tea Alliance for its shared fondness for the drink and experience of heightened uncertainty. For this generation in their first decade of practice, temporary public space-making has become a defining project type, much as private houses and commercial fit-outs launched earlier generations.
The exhibition examines these works through three lenses. First, it explores why this project type has emerged as central to a generation practicing at the forefront of geopolitical uncertainty and climate risks, offering lessons for other regions facing similar pressures. Second, it examines the expanded design repertoire that has emerged—from reversible construction to innovative use of found objects—excavating Asia Pacific building culture’s tradition of working precisely with small material fragments and maintaining sophisticated protocols for sharing, repair, and upkeep. This suggests alternatives to high-tech approaches to resilience and sustainability, and a distinct vision of how to live well in an uncertain world.
Third, the exhibition embraces temporality as both subject and method. Designed to keep the library exhibition space publicly accessible throughout, and shaped by long-distance logistics constraints, the exhibition itself becomes an experience of the temporal public spaces it presents—a counterpoint to how architecture is typically displayed and discussed.

《두껍아 두껍아: 집의 시간》의 연계 프로그램 〈Living Archives〉의 일환으로 오는 3월21일 첫 번째 특별 포럼이 개최됩니다.
이번 포럼은 베니스비엔날레 국제건축전 한국관의 지난 전시들을 돌아보고, 건축 전시의 지속가능성과 의미를 관련 전문가들과 함께 논의하는 자리입니다. 특히 이번 전시에서 “전시의 집”으로 조명한 베니스비엔날레 한국관을 출발점으로, 앞으로 이 공간에 어떤 미래의 담론과 실천이 담길 수 있을지에 대한 생산적인 논의를 촉발하고자 합니다.
포럼에서는 최근 베니스비엔날레 국제건축전의 동향과 참여의 의의를 짚어보는 한편, 건축을 전시한다는 행위가 지니는 문화적·제도적 가치를 살펴봅니다. 또한 그동안 건축가들이 커미셔너와 큐레이터를 맡아온 한국관의 경향과 최근 전문 큐레이터의 참여가 확대되는 변화가 무엇을 의미하는지 논의합니다.
아울러 국내에서 제도적 기반이 아직 충분히 구축되지 않은 건축 큐레이팅의 국제적 확장 가능성을 중심으로, 앞으로 탐색해야 할 과제와 방향에 대해 패널들과 함께 다양한 시각을 나누고자 합니다.

It is always a great pleasure to host students from around the globe. A group of students led by Prof. .hwang visited and PRAUD. Dongwoo shared why and how we run Domansa, what we do through it, and who we engage with. Domansa‘s activities are improvised and temporary, yet have a strong immediacy that can rarely be experienced in architectural design.
