This morning, 20 Mitchell scholars from the Speedy Sharks Run Club laced up their sneakers, showed off their speedy fins, and crushed their Wildly Important Goal by completing a 5K at the Reindeer Run! 🦈🎄🎉

Mitchell staff and scholars had a fabulous first week of school! Mitch even came for a visit at the attendance pop-up on Friday! We can't wait for another week!

Mitchell Elementary welcomed back students and families last week with a Back to School Meet the Teacher Trail Ride! We are so excited for the school year and have loved having our scholars back in the building this week!

Hi there! My name is Mr. Or and I am a the Math Coach/Lead Teacher at Mitchell. This will be my 7th year here! I am originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina, and graduated from the College of Charleston in 2019 with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and also received my Master's degree in Teaching, Learning, and Advocacy from the College of Charleston in 2023. I love going to the beach, drinking coffee, working out, and going on long walks with my dog, Lulu. Let's have a great year!

I am so excited to be the Literacy Coach at Julian Mitchell Elementary School! Reading is a favorite hobby of mine, and teaching reading is my passion. I'm excited about passing that passion on to our students and their families. I was born and raised in Charleston, SC, and I am excited to be returning home to begin my 20th year in education. I have been married to my husband for 18 years, and we have two lovely children. I earned my B.S. degree in Elementary Education and an M.Ed. in Literacy, both from Winthrop University (GO EAGLES!). I also hold an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Coastal Carolina University (Go Chants!). In 2013, I received my National Board Certification in Literacy. In my 20 years as an educator, I have taught 1st-4th grades, and I was a Reading Recovery Teacher for 4 years. This will be my 7th year in coaching, and I look forward to returning home and pouring into the district where I grew up. This summer, when I'm not packing boxes and preparing to move, I will spend time with family and friends, and catch up on my reading.

We are excited to have this team leading the learning for our teachers!

We hope to see all of our Mitchell Families at our Back to School Trail Ride tomorrow night from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.! Come and meet your child's teacher and the Mitchell Elementary staff! There will be food, music, and fun!
