Exciting news for Compass!

We’re incredibly grateful to the ATI Foundation for awarding Compass Collegiate Academy a $30,000 grant to support career awareness, leadership development, entrepreneurship, field experiences and workplace visits for our K–6 scholars.

Opportunities like these help our scholars connect what they’re learning today with the possibilities ahead of them and we’re so excited for what this partnership will make possible.

We’re grateful to partner with Lowcountry Orphan Relief to bring a Just in Case Closet to CCA, an on-site resource stocked with clothing and everyday essentials to help meet scholars’ immediate needs.

A special thank you to Ground Swell Capital, whose generous support made our closet possible, and to Lowcountry Orphan Relief for helping us bring this resource to our school community.

The Just in Case Closet is designed to grow with the support of our community, too. As specific needs arise, we’ll share ways our Compass families and community partners can help us keep it stocked and ready for our scholars.

Sometimes the things that help a scholar feel ready to learn have nothing to do with what’s in a textbook. We’re grateful for another way to make sure our scholars feel supported, cared for, and ready for the day ahead. 💙🧭

Four weeks in. 💙

The routines are taking shape. Classrooms are buzzing. Friendships are growing. Hands are going up. Teachers are leaning in. And little by little, a new school year is starting to feel like home!

These are the moments that make up a day at Compass...learning, laughing, asking questions, working together, and growing along the way.

As our scholars settle into a new year, that’s the kind of goodness we love seeing take shape every day: relationships growing, confidence building and scholars discovering that this is a place where they belong!

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹. 📚

This past week, our faculty had the privilege of learning from 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 as we explored Gullah Geechee language and culture and the important role language plays in identity, connection, and learning.

Her presentation invited us to think more deeply about the power of language and the important role it plays in shaping identity, fostering connection, and supporting meaningful learning for every scholar.

As we prepare to welcome our scholars back, we're grateful for opportunities like this that help us continue growing as educators and creating classrooms where every child feels seen, valued, and supported.

📚 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲!

Some books are more than stories...they become memories.

This week, Mr. Tisdale is sharing one of his all-time favorite books, 𝙊𝙝, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙔𝙤𝙪'𝙡𝙡 𝙂𝙤! by Dr. Seuss. It was a gift from his aunt when he graduated high school, and later became a tradition he shared with students because the meaning of the story changes as you grow.

This week's challenge is simple: 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸, 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲.

🤝 Partnership Wednesday | A New Chapter Begins
Some of the most meaningful work starts long before the results can be measured.
This year, we're proud to begin training teachers at Compass Collegiate Academy, a Title 1 charter school in North Charleston.
