Heading back to Nantucket in September to wrap up the roll out of the year-round bus service. I'm really looking forward to it although I can't imagine how I'll be able to top going to the Daffodil Festival and meeting some very interesting people on the bus. Fun!

(April 19, 2018) When the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority buses hit the streets Friday, April 27, they will continue to roll into the winter and beyond, as year-round service has come to the island.
“We are trying to offer an alternative mode of transportation to solve our traffic problems and offer year-round residents a reliable public-transportation service,” Select Board vice-chair Dawn Hill Holdgate said.
The service will be pared down from routes available in the summer, but will include the mid-island loop, the Miacomet loop and the Sconset loop via Old South Road.
Those routes account for 60 percent of the ridership for seasonal service and already have the longest seasons. Routes like Madaket and Surfside stop running as beach weather comes to an end in September.
The service will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the week and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the weekends. The mid-island loop and Miacomet loops will be on a half-hour basis and the Sconset via Old South Road will be 40- to 60-minute loops. The bus will only make five trips to Sconset a day, with the rest of those trips turning around at the end of Nobadeer Farm road and heading back into town.
