For 182 years, Planters Inn has welcomed guests to the corner of Meeting and Market. Today, a new era of the historic hotel is taking shape. Our thoughtful renovation is underway – including updates to our guestrooms, public spaces, and the acclaimed Peninsula Grill.

🐠 — Go beyond the exhibits with a visit to the Aquarium’s renowned Sea Turtle Care Center™, where you can watch rescued sea turtles on their journey from rehabilitation to release. It’s one of Charleston’s most memorable experiences for visitors of all ages.

🍦 — A new local favorite, Gustard’s serves freshly churned frozen custard with rotating seasonal flavors in a relaxed neighborhood setting—well worth the short drive when you’re craving something sweet.

Welcome home, Chef!

We are honored to welcome Chef John Ondo back as The Executive Chef of Peninsula Grill! 🙌

Chef Ondo’s story with Peninsula Grill began nearly three decades ago, when he first joined our kitchen as a line cook.

Today, he returns after becoming one of Charleston’s most respected chefs, bringing with him a thoughtful approach to seasonal, ingredient-driven cuisine and a genuine love for Lowcountry hospitality.

His career has been shaped by a passion for seasonal ingredients, thoughtful hospitality, and a deep appreciation for Lowcountry cuisine.
