For classic cocktails and comfort food done right, look no further than The Rarebit. Uncomplicated and delicious, there's something for everyone on our menu.
The Rarebit is a place for great drinks and great food in a mid-century atmosphere. We serve breakfast all day. Try our chicken and waffles, huevos rancheros, or Track breakfast consisting of two eggs, bacon and geechie boy grits with white, wheat, or rye toast. Join us for happy hour Tuesdays through Fridays from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and enjoy $5 Moscow mules, dark and stormy's, or greyhounds. You can also enjoy our house red and house white for $5 and $4 draft beers. Cheers!

As 2025 comes to an end, we find ourselves closing a chapter that has meant more to us than words can express.
It’s hard to believe it’s been 13 years since we realized our vision of a cocktail bar inside of a dog track in 1962, fittingly named The Rarebit🐇.
Our goal was to create a place that was as stylish as it was comfortable, with cocktails that would fit the era and food that would rival the best diners in the world.
Businesses rarely know what they will become known for, but it was the Moscow Mules that put us on the map as much as our chicken and waffles. It seemingly became a right of passage to leave with one of our mugs👜. We scratched our heads for months before accepting it as flattery and “good marketing”.
For many years, it wasn’t a night out without stopping by for a mule or a late night breakfast served up by our incredible staff. We can’t name each and every one of you here, but please know how grateful we are that you chose to be a part of our dream.
The Rarebit was more than just a bar or restaurant, it was and is a family. Nothing lasts forever, no matter how great, but the memories and friendships made here will last a lifetime. We are so honored to have been a part of everyone’s journey, and we hope that Charleston will always keep a small place in its heart for a spot that meant so much to so many, especially us.

Hey friends- y'all might have heard that we're closing. The appreciation post will certainly come, but let's keep it light like we always have, until it's time for tears 🥰.

This week's lunch special is pretty healthy 😂-
Chef's Portobello Burger- with roasted red peppers, arugula, charred red onions, and goat cheese. Served on a potato bun with roasted garlic aioli and a balsamic glaze.
And we just brought back our formerly famous onion rings to the menu!!!

Seared Salmon & Shrimp is this week's dinner special!
Our seasonal soup is Loaded Baked Potato- potatoes, onions & bacon finished with heavy cream and topped with more bacon, cheddar cheese, and scallions. It's great with a 3 cheese grilled cheese!

Hey friends- NO, WE AREN'T CLOSED CLOSED! We are just closed through Tuesday, 9/9 for end of summer break and to do a cosmetic refresh (refinish tables, touch up paint, etc). We look forward to serving you all again starting at lunch on Wednesday, 9/10! Please come out and support us!

OMG- I just had this and it's incredibly good! Our version of Surf-N-Turf- grilled sirloin and shrimp served over roasted red potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, mixed peppers, and onions topped with a lighttttttt ginger soy dressing. Only $26 - on King Street- that's a deal...
