These are wiper seals. They have one job, and that is to scrape all of the dirt and grime off of your shock shaft as the shock compresses. As they age, they become hard and brittle, which lets little bits of dirt and sand sneak past and get inside of your shock. This contaminates the shock oil and over time, can significantly wear out the internal components, sometimes beyond repair. This is the only component in a standard shock rebuild that can be inspected without taking the shock apart. Take a peak at yours and let us know if it's time for a rebuild.

Sometimes it's a seal failure, sometimes its a lack of nitrogen pressure, sometimes its pushing your equipment beyond its thermal limits, and sometimes its just age. Regardless of why your shock oil would look like this, it will kill performance, and risk damaging the more expensive components of your shocks. Off road oriented exhaust setups are so often overlooked. Usually one of the lowest hanging and damage prone parts of a vehicle. The usual solution is the chop the exhaust under the truck, which can be dangerous to vehicle ocupants, and allow the highly corrosive exhaust gasses to damage orher vehicle parts. This Land Rover Discovery II got a proper high clearance re-route. 3" stainless with a fender exit and flexible bellows.

Love to see people being proactive!!!! This client just dropped off 6 for rebuilds. They are new to him, and while the appear to be in good shape on the outside, there's no telling what they look like on the inside or how they are valved. A full service is always a good idea after buying suspension components second hand.

RTI competition results from the spring 2026 .south this past weekend. Another post coming soon with some RTI action shots. A huge thank you to all of the people who attended our shock building and tuning seminar on friday, and the RTI competitin participants on sunday morning. This ramp was built for so much more than competition however. It's a learning tool that helps us discover and fine-tune our vehicles. Many first time competitors were able to see what limits their suspension travel, influencing the next steps of their build, while one off road veteran discovered a contact point between his shock body and frame at full drop, alerting him to an adjustment that will greatly prolong the life and reliability of the shock. We hope everyone had a great time playing on the ramp on saturday. If you would like to be officially scored, we will have the ramp back at overland south in the fall!

Today we test fit the first set of aluminum tube runners for the incredible G-wagons that builds. Strong, sleek, and light weight. Now they're off to powdercoating while we get going on the next set.
