Real Love… Negotiated (Where Broadway Meets Modern Jazz) at Piccolo Spoleto 2026 was a massive success and a truly homegrown show that I will never, ever forget. My wonderful band played their hearts out: Jonathan Lovett, Ron Wiltrout, and Jeremy Wolf.

This beautiful show is about my life, my brain, my family, and my journey as a mother in a neurospicy household. We talk about mothering in a neurospicy household, supporting kids with special needs, dating and marriage, and all the different ways I have found love in adulthood. The lyrics of Sondheim, Schwartz Bacharach, Larsen all support these stories and were arranged by Abdiel Iriarte and Jonathan Lovett like never before.

It’s deeply personal, and I’m sharing more than I ever have before. It’s taken some courage to come forward about our struggles, but it’s been worth it to connect with you and hear your stories!

And luckily, I have my friends right there with me. Kamilah Marshall, a true Broadway starlet, wowed our audience with her charm, wit, and powerhouse vocals. We sang music from RENT, which was especially meaningful because she played Joanne to my cabaret-style Maureen, and we had such fun together. I’m so thankful to her for sharing her extraordinary gifts. Whether she’s performing in a stadium or a tiny black box theater, she fills the room with creativity and grace.
Our award-winning producer, Gary Marshall (an extremely talented artist himself), secured the perfect space for this intimate and moving show and has been a huge part of its development. I first performed for Gary in The Last Five Years, and he later became my acting teacher. I learned so much from him and his acting method, the Marshall Arte. He has invested so much time in my growth as an artist this year, and I am deeply grateful for his encouragement and guidance. He also created the imagery that inspired Hannah Moore’s beautiful lighting design.

Pinch me… I can’t believe they are mine. I am so beyond blessed to celebrate with these precious kids. I was asked to sing in a club in NYC today and I had to turn it down because I couldn’t bear to be away from them on Mother’s Day. Today we loved being together. My kids wrapped me up in hugs and kept telling me how much they loved me throughout the day… out of the blue! They made beautiful gifts for me with their sweet little hands. We went strawberry picking and visiting a 400 year old oak tree that has truly been mothering a long time.
I’ll remember this day forever.

I’m also really grateful for my mom - how she fostered my creativity at an early age, peeled my apple skins, and always gave me hugs. I miss my grandmothers today, my great aunt… teacups and knitting lessons and Sunday lasagnas. I hope to make my kids childhoods as rich in memory as they made mine and maybe one day as a grandma too! ❤️ Happy Mothers Day!
