Heads up, everyone! Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening ahead of an approaching cold front. ⛈️

🚨 THE MAIN THREATS:
• 💨 Damaging Winds: This is the primary concern with today's storms.
• 🧊 Hail: Large hail is also a major threat.
• 🌪️ Tornadoes: A few tornadoes are possible, specifically across parts of southeast Ohio and northern West Virginia. Please stay alert!

Showers moving across the Ohio Valley this morning will gain strength from daytime heating. Expect storms to reach their peak intensity between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM before weakening after sunset. 🌇

Get ready for a massive cool-down! Sunday and Monday will be feeling much chillier behind the front. Any leftover precipitation could even turn into light snow ❄️ in the higher elevations on Sunday evening (maybe leaving a light trace!). Thankfully, high pressure moves in on Monday for a dry, quiet start to the work week. ☀️

Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows.

NOAA FORECAST MODELS: I was able to visit the High Technology Foundation in Fairmont, WV today! The center of the world’s weather is here. Not even kidding, this is the current home to weather super computers and will be the home of the future weather models, AI generative modeling, and so much more. Petabytes upon petabytes worth of data (1 million gigs each) is stored here and there will be so much more to come. Data companies are flocking to this location to use weather data in banking, food production, and so many other industries! Seriously, the things coming are awesome and amazing! I can’t wait to go back again soon! Thanks to Jim and the team for hosting Missy and I today!

READY FOR REGATTA! Bosun is ready for the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta. She’s heard that the concert announcement is VERY soon and she’s got hearing like no one else on earth! She’s got nothing to lose this time…because it’s America’s 250th birthday! That’s why she’s showing off her new treads with every little step on the Katie H Sternwheel boat! It’s an incredible summer for bein’ alive! We can’t wait!

I forgot to show all of you, Bosun was in the American Sternwheel Association’s pet calendar. She was February’s pinup! 😂

THE TOILET ISN'T WORKING! The toilet has failed, at least for now! They're about an hour and a half into the mission, and the crapper isn't working. The amber fault light was flashing, and that's going to be an issue. They're trying to troubleshoot it now...or crap shoot it, however you want to describe it! 🚽🪠💩

I'm sure they'll get it fixed, but as they flew over Australia, you could hear a touch of concern. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️😲

Flash Flood Warning until 10:15 PM EDT for Gallia County, OH and northwestern Mason County, WV. Thunderstorms with heavy rain have caused flash flooding, with 1 to 1.5 inches already fallen. Flash flooding of small creeks, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and low-lying spots. Turn around, don’t drown; avoid flooded roads and report flooding when safe.
