Severe thunderstorms are likely Sunday across Oklahoma and northern Texas to the Ark-La-Tex during the late afternoon and evening. A few tornadoes, destructive wind gusts of 80-100 mph, and very large hail are possible.

Powerful supercell produced damaging hail in the Austin, TX area yesterday.

AUSTIN HAIL WHITEOUT - Yesterday, May 28th, a very powerful supercell ran over northern parts of the populated #Austin metro. I know this area well and used to live right near Mopac. This particular supercell had a hail core that produced damaging hail, and also a wide swath of this hail, at one point spanning over both Mopac and i35. Severe storms are expected through the afternoon and evening across the southern Plains, especially across north Texas and southern Oklahoma. Dallas-Fort Worth Metro may be affected. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary hazards, with a few instances of 2+ inch diameter hail possible.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER: This is just one example of the hail coming out of storms in the eastern Ozarks right now. Near baseball size hail in Plato from Kay Lea Kennedy.

A regional outbreak of severe thunderstorms is likely this afternoon into tonight across parts of the mid Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. This will include intense supercells associated with tornadoes, large hail and wind damage. Several strong tornadoes are expected, and a long-track high-end tornado will be possible. From the evening into the overnight, a bowing line segment is expected to form with potential for tornadoes and damaging winds, some possibly greater than 75 mph.
