The Navigation Center supports individuals and families experiencing housing instability and crisis. Each has its own rules and procedures.

Through partnerships, integrated case management, and compassionate support, we help people move from crisis to stability—one relationship at a time. Military Community Connections (MCC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2015. MCC leaders have combined experience working with veterans and their families who are having difficulties transitioning into the community for over twenty-five

There's a trend going around right now highlighting the nostalgia of the '90s summer.

Bikes until dark. A neighborhood that knew your name. Lunch that just appeared on the counter. The kind of freedom that only exists when the basics are covered — when home is safe, the fridge is full, and adults have enough breathing room to actually be present.

We see those posts and we feel it too.

And then we think about the children right here in the Lowcountry whose summers look nothing like that. Not because childhood changed but because housing instability, food insecurity, and the weight of crisis don't take a vacation.

Over 600 children in Charleston County are identified as experiencing homelessness. When school lets out, the safety net contracts. Meals disappear. Routines dissolve. The grown-up stress gets louder, not quieter.

We believe every child deserves the basics every day: a safe place to land, a full plate, a family with room to breathe, and the freedom to just be a kid.

That's why The Navigation Center walks alongside families navigating crisis from insecurity to hope. Through our Family Navigator Program, we coordinate housing support, healthcare, and food access for families with school-aged children, because family needs don't end when school lets out.

This is TNC's summer. We'd love for it to be yours too. 💙

As we prepare for Memorial Day, we remember that service doesn't end when someone comes home.

For some veterans, the hardest battles begin after their service; navigating housing,
healthcare, and a civilian world that can feel impossibly complex.

At The Navigation Center, 1 in 3 of our clients has worn a uniform. Every week, we walk alongside them not because it's easy, but because it matters.
This Memorial Day weekend, take a moment to check on a veteran in your life. Ask how they're doing. Really listen. And if they, or anyone you know, needs support navigating housing instability or services in the Lowcountry, we are here.

Did you know that Second Presbyterian Church opens their hall every Sunday, allowing us to start each week in community and service for our Sunday Night Dinner?

This is what walking alongside our neighbors looks like, partners like 2nd Presbyterian Church opening their hall and Seacoast Church serving and caring.

Thank you to everyone who continues to show up, give, and love so well. It makes all the difference.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

At The Navigation Center, we know that mental health and housing stability are deeply connected. In fact, 35% of adults experiencing homelessness report mental health challenges and without coordinated support, those challenges can make it nearly impossible to find stability.

That's why TNC offers behavioral health services through our partnership with Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center right where our clients already are.

This month, we're sharing facts, stories, and resources to raise awareness. Because understanding is the first step toward change.

Today, we honor mothers.

The mothers who carry, comfort, encourage, protect, provide, pray, show up, and keep going.

And today, we are especially thinking of the mothers in our community who are carrying so much while working to build a stable future for their families.

Mothers navigating housing instability.
Mothers facing healthcare gaps.
Mothers managing transportation, appointments, school schedules, and next steps.

They are resilient.
They are resourceful.
They are courageous.
And they should not have to do it alone.

A Mother’s Day gift to The Navigation Center helps walk alongside a mother in the Lowcountry with care, coordination, and practical support as she takes her next step toward stability and hope.

Will you honor mothers today by helping a mother find her way forward?

Walking in hope.

Mother’s Day is almost here. A time to think about the women who have carried us, encouraged us, fought for us, and helped us find our way.

This year, we invite you to honor that kind of love by helping a mother in our community find her way forward.

In 2025, more than 330 single mothers walked through the doors of The Navigation Center while navigating housing instability, healthcare gaps, transportation challenges, and the daily weight of caring for their children.

They did not come because they gave up.

They came because they refused to. At The Navigation Center, we walk alongside mothers and families in crisis, helping them build pathways toward long-term stability and hope.

On average, it costs $500 a week to walk alongside a mother and her family with care, coordination, and support.

This Mother’s Day, your gift of any amount helps a mother in the Lowcountry feel seen, supported, and surrounded.

Families served by The Navigation Center were blessed with Easter baskets donated by King's Cross Church.

Their generosity brought a little extra joy to Easter and served as a meaningful reminder that our community shows up in beautiful ways for one another. We are deeply grateful for partners like King’s Cross Church who help share hope, kindness, and care with the families we serve.

DM or visit The Navigation Center website if you, your church or community are interested in supporting The Navigation Center in walking alongside people in crisis, helping create pathways toward stability, hope, and lasting well-being.

Growth matters — because people matter.

We are proud to celebrate Sandra Garlington, who has recently earned her Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) credential.
At The Navigation Center, Sandra shows up each day with compassion, perseverance, and a deep commitment to the families we serve. Her work is steady, relational, and rooted in advocacy.

This milestone is more than a credential — it reflects her dedication to doing this work well and continuing to grow for the sake of others.

In moments of crisis, Sandra is a calm, consistent presence.

And that presence changes everything.

Behind every strong system is someone quietly holding it together.

At The Navigation Center, that someone is Rhonda Goodale, LMSW.

As the leader of our Social Work Department, Rhonda brings both expertise and empathy to every situation. She navigates complexity with clarity, ensuring that each family receives thoughtful, coordinated care—not just quick fixes.

But her impact doesn’t stop there.

Through her leadership, she is also developing and strengthening the team around her—multiplying the care and support available to our community.

Because of Rhonda, families don’t just receive help.
They experience stability, dignity, and a pathway forward.
