Throwback Thursday - Today we feature Countryside campouts through the ages. Here is a selection from 2016-2023. (Look for older campouts next week!)

Each fall our middle school takes off to a campground in the area to pitch tents, hike, fish, play games, tell stories around the campfire, and bond with each other. Some students even get up for the sunrise hike! As part of their leadership training, our 8th graders plan and shop for the campout meals, organize the activities, and assist the 6th and 7th graders in setting up their tents.

Throwback Thursday - Today we head back to Countryside castles of the ages. We have the castle from 1994 in the storefront and then 1999 and 2023 in the “new building”. We still do the Medieval Unit today. (Look for it this spring!)

From designing and building their own castles out of sugar cubes to making their own stained glass windows to painting the classroom castle, the students have always loved the hands on aspects of this unit. We even incorporate the castle theme in to our math and reading (a fairytale unit).

We still have the beloved Medieval Feast complete with dressing up in costume and Maypole dancing, jousting and sword fighting.

Throwback Thursday – We're on a run of performances with our throwback posts. Here is the cast of "The Little Mermaid" from 2009 - back when the 6th graders did a show. Of course, this was prior to our big gym and stage being constructed, so it was performed in the multipurpose room.

Our 5th graders created solar ovens! The project was to build a heat transfer device that could melt a marshmallow. The ovens reached temperatures as high as 143 degrees which resulted in “significantly melty” marshmallows!

Throwback Thursday - Another performance favorite: Mrs. Henson dressed as a cockroach in the All School Music/PE show in April 2004. She rode in on a Razor scooter and danced to “La Cucaracha”!

Huge thank you to our CSA for hosting an amazing 35th Anniversary Launch Party/Picnic! We had food trucks (Burrito King and Kona Ice), inflatables, face painting, and yard games.
